Today is Dr. Seuss’ Birthday and in honor of one of our favorite authors, we thought we’d have some fun! First, I collected all of our favorite Dr. Seuss books from the boys’ library and we’ve been reading them all week. I’ve always loved the rhythm and rhymes that are present in all of his books, but now that Andrew is learning how to read, I’ve come to appreciate the repetition even more because I can see that it’s really helping him learn the words! There are so many fun children’s books by Dr. Seuss and we always look forward to growing our collection with more books every year! Here are some of our favorites:
Today I thought we’d do something fun for lunch that I remembered doing as a kid in school. We ate GREEN EGGS AND HAM! The boys were both brave enough to try it and while they didn’t totally love it, they did pretty well!
Next, we made Lorax cupcakes that were as yummy as they are cute! The Lorax was the first full-length movie we ever watched with Andrew when he was little! I’m not a professional baker (obviously) but I do have #PinterestMomGoals and while I still have a ways to go, I think they turned out pretty cute! We used lemon cake mix, orange and yellow food coloring for the frosting, candy eyes, and strawberry TicTacs for the noses. The boys loved them and I may or may not have eaten more than one…. We made enough to share with family which always makes them even more fun! Even the kitties wanted to join in on the picnic!
After the cupcake fun, the boys got to play with some fun Dr. Seuss sticker books that go along with our different stories. We will continue reading these books throughout the year! Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
