Family time is everything! Our boys are now 3 and 5 years old and they’re at an age where we can do more activities together that they can fully participate in. I love finding ways for us to do something new and exciting together! We’ve made so many memories together already from many trips to Disney World to epic cross country road trips and lots more! But I love the idea of creating new and exciting kid-friendly adventures in our own backyard, something that we can do together easily, and a way that our boys can be involved.
I received a complimentary My Gnome on the Roam Kit to review and, as always, all thoughts are my honest opinion. I choose to only share things with you guys that we actually use and enjoy! I am so excited to share with you some of the fun we had together!
Introducing My Gnome on the Roam:
This fun kit comes all packed up in a super cute little suitcase that you can use to keep all of your My Gnome on the Roam goodies together. The packaging is adorable and it’s designed to look like a suitcase.
What’s Inside?
Every My Gnome on the Roam family adventure kit includes a white gnome to decorate, a My Gnome on the Roam story book (that can also be colored!), a family adventure journal to write and record memories and save adventure photos, and a cute pen made from a tree branch! It also comes with a little instructional booklet and a name tag.
Getting Started: Decorating Your Gnome:
The first step to getting your family adventures started is to decorate your gnome! This was SO much fun! We decided to do this together as a family so that as we take our little gnome along family adventures, he will represent each of us. It was so much fun for everyone to have their own creative input and to see the final gnome that we each had a part in creating!
You can use any materials you like to decorate your gnome (markers, crayons, paint, or even hot glue and extra materials). I thought markers would be fun and easy for us!
I got started with his face and beard. I used Skinny Sharpies for the finer details like the eyes and hair strokes for his beard. Then, Andrew chose to decorate our gnome’s hat. He decided to go with a rainbow theme and carefully selected each color so that it was bright and fun! He had SO much fun with this! (It definitely makes me want to plan many more creative projects!) The boys used Bic Mark It Permanent Markers. I thought wider markers would be easier for them and they loved the bright colors!
Next, I colored his gloves, boots, and belt. Then, it was Aidan’s turn! Aidan got to decorate our gnome’s pants. He chose to make them look a bit like confetti and it turned out really cute! He also had so much fun participating! (Fun fact: It looks like we have TWO lefties!)
After the pants were complete, Drew got to decorate our gnome’s shirt! The boys enjoyed watching their daddy color the gnome and I loved that we could do this project all together as a family!

What is My Gnome on the Roam?
The goal of My Gnome on the Roam is to inspire busy families to connect, create, and explore. They say the average family spends only 38.5 minutes per week in meaningful connection! Eek- seeing that statistic is really scary to me! I know we spend more than that together, but I also know that I want to be even more intentional in creating meaningful activities for our children to enjoy with us.

We can do better.”]The My Gnome on the Roam kit provides families with all the tools needed to begin to create a lifetime of fantastic memories and to make your life a book worth reading. I love love love this fun idea and can’t wait to fill our journal with fun memories! It will be so fun to look back at once it’s all full!
How to use your Adventure Kit:
The kit suggests you find a couple days each week to spend 15 magic minutes together as a family. You can read Gustav’s story together (the name of the little gnome) as well as color the book together. You can also print your own coloring pages at www.mygnomeontheroam.com.
You get a lot of room for creativity with this fun family adventure kit. The journal is a blank slate to create and document many, many family adventures. On the front of the journal, it says, “Make Your Life a Book Worth Reading,” which really reminds us that time with our children is precious and valuable and not to take any of it for granted. This adventure kit provides so many fun ways to spend time together and make memories by giving you tools and inspiration. Along with this kit, you can download a FREE app for daily ideas and inspiration. The app can be downloaded here for Android or iPhone!
Find Inspiration and Ideas with the App:
Each day has a theme which makes the app even more exciting and helps parents plan their fun adventures for their family!
