Are you guys having a great time with Back to School? In today’s subscription box feature, I’m going to share a fun, educational box for kids called Little Global Citizens. This is a monthly subscription that helps nurture open-mindedness and compassion in children by introducing them to other cultures of the world, one country at a time. Each month features all kinds of fun educational activities themed around one country. The box featured in this post is the August 2018 box and our theme country is Peru.

What’s inside?
This box was well-curated with a nice selection of educational materials made just for kids, as well as some interactive crafts and games, and a book!
Welcome Card:
The welcome card included a nice letter from a girl named Chaska who taught us about her home country where she speaks Quechua. Her and her family raise alpacas for wool and in the box, she sent Andrew a beautiful friendship bracelet they made from the alpaca wool!
Book:
We received a picture book called Up and Down the Andes: A Peruvian Festival Tale by Laurie Krebs and Aurelia Fronty. Filled with fun, colorful illustrations, this book is a great way for children to learn more about what life in Peru is like.
Crafts:
We received everything we need to make two fun crafts, an Alpaca Garland and a Siku (Panflute). Andrew had a lot of fun making these and I think his creations came out really cute! He also received a coloring page and a flag to color.
Games:
We received three games: a Frog Toss game (inspired by Juego de Sapo in Peru); and a rainforest memory game that also doubles as a puzzle on the reverse side. Andrew loves snakes and was really excited to learn that Peru is home to the anaconda. (Eek!)
Educational Materials:
Along with the welcome guide, we received a parent guide (with a list of all items included in the box and fun facts about Peru); a informational page about Peruvian Cuisine-sharing the food they eat as well as a recipe on the back for Causa Rellenda con Pollo (which we will definitely try to make soon!). The box also included a full color flag card with information about the meaning behind the flag of Peru. Each of the crafts and games also shared stories about Peruvian culture.
Be sure to watch our video for a closer look at everything in this box!
Final Thoughts?
Overall, I think this box was fantastic! Everything was curated really well and even the educational materials were well put together with specific learning goals in mind. Everything together gives kids a great way to learn about what life is like in another country. I’ve always loved traveling and while I’ve never been to Peru, I hope to visit someday. In the mean time, I think Little Global Citizens does an amazing job of bringing another culture to your kids all in one convenient monthly box. Andrew really enjoyed this box and said the crafts were his favorite. He also said he hopes to learn about another country next month! I think this box would be a great for families as well as for teachers who wish to introduce their class to other parts of the world with fun, hands-on activities.
