I received a complimentary box to facilitate an honest review on my blog. All thoughts are my own.
Hello and welcome back to another subscription unboxing feature! In this post, I’m going to share a lifestyle box called My Hyyge Joy, a monthly box that curates well being and togetherness in a box shipped straight to your door monthly. I received the May box and here’s what I received:
Unbox with me in this video:
What’s inside the box?
The first item I got in my box is a handmade greeting card from Keepin it Positive. It features a photo of plants with a quote by Rumi that says, “When you feel a peaceful JOY, that’s when you are with truth.”
The next item in my box is a Choose Joy mug. It’s a square shape which I thought was kinda fun since I’ve never had a square mug before. Inside the mug was a single tea bag sample from Harney & Sons in the flavor Hot Cinnamon Spice. The product list did not say where this mug is from. I actually drink tea every day but this was the first time I’ve tried a Cinnamon Spice tea. I thought it was pretty good and tasted like Big Red gum! I think this tea would be amazing around the holidays!
Then, I got a handmade mini bath bomb from Head to Heel Creations. It’s made with Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, and a hint of citrus.
Next, I received a handmade white flannel/terry washcloth. It doesn’t say where this is from, either.
After that, there is a mini travel size 2 ounce soy candle in the scent Joy. It is made with a blend of cinnamon, pine, bayberry and thyme. It smells amazing and reminds me of Christmas!
Finally, this box included a book called The Joy of Hygge- How to Bring Everyday Pleasure and Danish Coziness into your Life by Jonny Jackson & Elias Larsen. This is a fun reference book with beautiful photos that shares more information about living a hygge lifestyle, teaching how to cultivate joy in your life and in your home through ideas, recipes, craft tutorials, and more.
I always love books that inspire me to be creative and there are some really fun projects in here. As a mom of three who works from home and is always trying to catch up on my to-do list, I find the idea of inviting relaxation and comfort very appealing! This book is a great place to get some fresh ideas for doing just that!
What is Hygge?
Hygge (pronounced HOO-guh) is a Danish word that describes the feeling of being cozy, comfortable, and at peace with the world. Perhaps this concept is why those who live in Denmark are reportedly some of the happiest people in the world!
I feel like Americans tend to forget how important it is to just be with all our fast-paced lives, side hustles, and never-ending things to do. Don’t get me wrong, I love the craziness that entrepreneurship brings…mostly…. but I am at a place in my life where I really want to slow down a bit. My kids are growing up SO fast and I really want to do a better job of being present and living in the moment. So when I was invited to try out the My Hygge Joy subscription box and learn a little about this culture, I thought it was a perfect fit! If you are interested in learning more about Hygge, the book that was included in this box is a great place to start!
Final Thoughts?
I LOVE the idea of this box and the thought that went into putting it together. Hygge lifestyle seems really neat and I look forward to learning more about ways to incorporate some ideas into our home. The book is filled with great ideas! I also really liked the mug! I would have liked to see 3-5 tea samples with a variety of flavors to try. I also think a full size bath bomb and candle would have been the icing on the cake. I’m not sure if Hygge is also primarily centered around the winter time, but since it’s summer I felt like the items were just slightly off season. I know future boxes have another theme- the sticker says that upcoming themes are Here Comes the Sun and Life is a Picnic, so that won’t be a concern for future boxes. The fact that the prices weren’t listed makes it hard to determine the actual value of this box. Overall the concept is really great. I think a few small changes would make it even better!
